- Create and update your free Single Page Site
One of great features Freeparking offers our domain name customers is the ability to create their own Single Page Site for free.  The Single Page Site tools are provided under the My Account section.  In order to use the free Single Page Site, the domain name must be using Freeparking DNS servers (ns.freeparking.co.nz and ns2.freeparking.co.nz) and also be pointing to the Freeparking ‘parked domain’ IP Address.  If these requirements are not in place, you will see a message under the Single Page Site section advising you of what is required.  For further information on how to use the Single Page Site tools, please see the Sitebuilder/Single Page Site section under these FAQs.

- Set up free URL Redirection for your domain name
If you have registered a domain name that you just want to point to an existing website, you can set this redirection for no charge under My Account.  Once logged in, select the domain name you wish to redirect, locate the ‘Domain Redirection’ tool and enter in the destination URL (website name) you want it to point to.  If you don’t want people to see the true website address you are pointing to, then switch on the ‘cloaking’ feature as this will keep your domain name in the browser address bar instead of reverting it to the destination URL.

- View a list of your domain names and their expiry dates
When you first log in to the My Account facility, you will see a list of all domain names held under that account, along with a ‘Paid Until’ column showing each domain name’s expiry date.  You can sort this list of domain names in order of expiry date or alphabetically.

- Renew a domain name or bulk renew several domain names together
If you wish to renew one or more of your domain names you can do so using the tools provided under My Account.  To renew one domain name, just select the name you wish to renew and at the top of the domain management page click on either the ‘Renew Now’ or ‘Multi-year renewal’ button, depending on whether you wish to renew the name for 1 year or more than 1 year.

If you wish to renew several domain names in one transaction, select the ‘Bulk Renewals’ link provided under the ‘Account Options’ panel in My Account.  This tool will allow you to select from a list of all domain names under your account which names you wish to renew, and then process payment for all names together.

- Change the DNS servers for your domain name
Your DNS server settings dictate things like where your domain name points to on the Internet, and how email to your domain name is handled.  When you register a domain name with Freeparking, the domain name will be set to use our DNS servers (ns.freeparking.co.nz and ns2.freeparking.co.nz) by default.

If you wish to change your DNS servers, use the ‘Edit Domain Servers’ button provided in My Account.

- Edit the DNS records Freeparking holds for your domain name
You are able to edit the following DNS Records using the ‘Edit DNS Records’ tool in My Account:
o IP Number (A record) - point your domain name to your website.
o Aliases (CName record) - an alias of a canonical name
o Mail servers (MX Record) - define your email server(s)
o Descriptive Records (TXT Record) - apply text records for other information (such as SPF records)

The 'Edit DNS Records' option will not be viewable under My Account if your domain name is not currently using the Freeparking DNS servers (ns.freeparking.co.nz and ns2.freeparking.co.nz).  If you wish to edit your DNS records, then you must first change your DNS server settings to use Freeparking's DNS servers, which you can do using the 'Edit Domain Servers' button.

- Request a UDAI or EPP Key for a domain name
If you are planning to transfer your domain name to another Registrar you will need to obtain a UDAI (for .nz domains) or an EPP Key (for TLD domains) and provide this to your new Registrar.  If you click the button to request a UDAI or EPP Key, it will be sent via email to the Registrant contact email address on record for that domain name.

- Open a TLD domain name transfer window (before transfer to another Registrar)
In order to protect TLD domain names from being transferred to another registrar without your authorisation, a 'Registrar Lock' is applied to these names.  If you wish to transfer a TLD domain name (.com, .net, .org, .biz or .info) to another registrar, you first need to authorise the system to allow the transfer and remove the 'Registrar Lock'.  A Transfer Window removes the lock for a period of 7 days to allow the new Registrar to request the transfer.  After 7 days, if the Registrar Transfer has not been initiated the lock will be reset to avoid an unauthorised transfer in the future.

- Update the contact details for your domain names
You can change any of the contact details associated with your domain name by logging into the My Account facility, selecting the domain name you wish to manage (if you have more than one domain name), then clicking on the ‘modify’ buttons provided.

- Update the contact details for the account itself
The default account contact details are used whenever you register a new domain name under that account.  Using the ‘Default Contact Details’ link under the ‘Account Options’ panel in My Account, you can modify your default account contact information.
Editing the default account details does not update your domain name registration records.  However, if you update the default account details first, this will allow faster updating of domain name contact details using the ‘Apply current defaults’ button.

- Initiate a Registrant Transfer to change the ownership of a domain name
If you wish to change the legal holder of a domain name under your account, the process is as follows:
1) The new Registrant will need to create an account (if they don’t already have one) with their own username and contact details, and then provide the existing Registrant with their account username.
2) The existing Registrant should then log into My Account, click on the Registrant Transfer option, and initiate the transfer process specifying the new Registrant’s account username as the destination account.
3) A verification email will be sent to the default account contact email address for the existing Registrant, which contains a link to follow to approve the transfer.
4) After the transfer has been approved by the existing Registrant, another verification email is sent to the default contact email address associated with the new Registrant’s account, for them to confirm acceptance of the domain name.
5) When the new Registrant has approved the transfer into their account, the domain name will automatically move from the old Registrant’s account into the new Registrant’s account.  From then on, the domain name can only be managed by the new Registrant.

- View a transaction log (history) for your domain names
All events and changes to your domain name are automatically tracked and logged in your transaction log e.g. renewal transactions, modification of details etc.  To view the transaction log for a domain name just log into My Account, select the domain name (if you have more than one under your account) and then click on the ‘Transaction Log’ option provided.

Should your domain name be transferred to another owner, or your account be merged with another account, the transaction history is not transferred to the new owner or account.  The new account will show the transfer or merge event itself, and any new events, but not previous transaction history.

- Request a list of your domain names to be sent to you via email
The Email Domain List tool within the My Account facility sends an email to an address you can specify with a listing of your domain names which includes expiry dates.  To request a Domain List, log in to the My Account facility, select ‘Email Domain List’ and enter the email address you would like the list sent to.

- Merge the current account with another account, if the account holder is the same
If you have more than one Freeparking account, you may merge one account into another using the online ‘Merge Account’ facility.  You can only merge Freeparking accounts if you are the owner of BOTH accounts, and can demonstrate this to the satisfaction of Freeparking.  Usually you would do this if you want to consolidate multiple accounts you have established to a single account.  This is NOT a Transfer of Registrant procedure i.e. if the two accounts you wish to merge have different holder details then you will need to complete a Registrant Transfer not a Merge Account.

To merge accounts online, either of the following sets of conditions must apply;
a) The Registrant Organisation Name AND Registrant Organisation Email Address for both accounts are the same, or
b) The Registrant Address, City, Country, Telephone and Email Address for both accounts are the same.

If neither of the above sets of conditions apply, the online merge request will not proceed, and the manual Merge Account form must be submitted to Freeparking.  To request a merger of your accounts manually, please complete the form below and post or fax it back to Freeparking.

* Merge Account Request Form (Print as a PDF document)
* Merge Account Request Form (Print as an HTML document)

- Set a Registrant Lock, so domain names cannot be modified without prior authorisation
Registrant Lock ensures that only one person (the holder of the registrant email address) can manage your domain name.  It also helps prevent unauthorised transfers.  When a domain name has a Registrant Lock enabled, the only function available is to renew the domain name.

To enable a Registrant Lock, select the ‘Registrant Lock’ option under the My Account facility. The Registrant contact will be sent an email containing a link to follow to confirm the Registrant Lock is enabled.

To disable a Registrant Lock, select ‘Send Unlock Request’ in the My Account facility.  The Registrant contact will be sent an email containing a link to follow to confirm the Registrant Lock is disabled.
