Initial set-up up of Filezilla to publish (upload) your web files
You can use the quick connect option by entering the details into the boxes provided for Address, User, and Password and then click the quickconnect button. This will remember the settings and you can use the arrow next to the quickconnect button to connect again later.
To make a more permanent setup,
Select the Site Manager icon or select Site Manager from the File dropdown menu.
If you already have your site defined here you can skip to the uploading section below
Once in the Site Manager, click New Site at the bottom of the window, then enter your domain name for the name of the new site.
Enter the appropriate settings for your account, you can find these in your Freeparking setup email.
Some example settings:
* Host: yourname.co.nz
* Logontype: Normal
* Username: username@yourname.co.nz
* Password: your password
* Default Remote Directory:
You need to enter the full path to the remote directory here, this will be
/var/www/html
* Default Local Directory:
click the ... to browse to the directory where you keep site files on your local machine.
Select Default site if you want this to be the site that is first selected when you open the site manager
When ready click the Connect button and the changes will be saved and you will connect to the website. (If you dont want to connect at this time just click Save and Exit instead of Connect) To connect to your site at a later date, open the Site Manager window again (see above) and select the connection you just made and then click Connect
Publishing your site
Connect to your site by clicking the Site Manager icon or select Site Manager from the File dropdown menu. (see above)
You will see the files from your computer in the left panel, and files on the remote server in the right panel. You can "drag-and-drop" to upload and download files from your website.
Publish your site by uploading the copy from your computer, when it is done you will be able to see your site at http://yourname.co.nz.
FileZilla also has many other actions that can be done to files and/or to make your publishing easier, many can be done by right-clicking on a file. Experiment by right-click files. (Ensure you have recent backup of your site before trying some actions)
